My footsteps slowly lose their pace,

The sunlight blinds my weary eyes;

I searched for someone, long ago,

A dream is all that now survives.

With sorrow I go wandering on,

The very earth begins to shake;

I leave behind my home at last,

Forevermore, for my own sake.

The bells are ringing through the air,

A life has faded into naught;

Even the soul breaks down and weeps,

I shall forget the one I sought.
